Earlier last month, Chipotle started accepting payments in cryptocurrencies. For this, digital payment network Flexa is being used, which automatically converts cryptocurrencies into normal currency. A 10 percent discount is being given for one month to customers paying through the Flexa-linked app.
A report from a crypto-related website states that Chipotle started in crypto with a promotional campaign in March. The campaign was organized with the help of Stefan Thomas, former CTO of Ripple. In this, people were asked to guess a code of six digitals to win bitcoins worth up to one million dollars.
Recently, Farfetch, one of the luxury e-tailer firms, reported accepting payments in Bitcoin, Ether and other cryptocurrencies. The UK and Portugal firm connects international fashion brands, boutiques and department stores with buyers. Farfetch founder José Neves said it was an important step in a big financial transformation. “With this we want to empower our brands and boutique partners to engage with cryptocurrencies,” Neves had explained. Buyers using cryptocurrencies to purchase on Farfetch’s website must link their crypto wallets to the website’s interface via a QR code. Farfetch has hired German crypto platform Lunu to help take payments in crypto. Some other luxury brands have also offered their buyers the option of payment in cryptocurrencies.
